About ACIHE

Today’s citizenry, healthcare professionals, and healthcare profession students are more keenly aware of the needs of marginalized people than those of previous generations. Educational institutions are rapidly developing curriculum and field experiences to match the resulting student, professional and community-wide expectations.

The Accreditation Council for International Healthcare Education, known by the acronym ACIHE and pronounced like the word “ace,” was established with the dual purpose of commending the value of service to marginalized people and providing useful guidelines and accountability to institutions developing educational programs for the benefit of such people. In fulfillment of this purpose, ACIHE upholds the following enduring values:

Accountability:

ACIHE will maintain transparency, consistency, responsiveness to those being served.

Excellence:

ACIHE will uphold systems that are efficient, evidence-based, innovative, and improvement–oriented.

Professionalism:

ACIHE will proceed in a manner that is respectful, balanced, ethical, and that enhances partnerships.

"We welcome healthcare educators and healthcare profession students from across the academic spectrum to join in this worthy endeavor."
