The Accreditation Council for International Healthcare Education (ACIHE) is responsible for the accreditation of international health education programs in the United States.
Accreditation is accomplished through a peer-review process that is based on established standards and guidelines.
Dr. LeMaster received an MPH in Developing Countries from the London School of Hygiene And Tropical Medicine, and lived in Nepal from 1990-2000, serving at Okhaldhunga Hospital, promoting maternal-child health and conducting leprosy research.
Benefits to educational institutions as a result of ACIHE Accreditation include:
Communication of confidence to current and potential students and their parents that quality, safety, and accountability characterize the educational institution’s international healthcare education program
Assurance to donors, administrators, and liability specialists that the international healthcare education is being conducted adheres to currently recognized standards in this rapidly evolving field
The first step in becoming ACIHE accredited is completion of the ACIHE Preliminary Accreditation Application.
The purpose of the Preliminary Accreditation Application is to provide ACIHE with information necessary to determine if the educational program is eligible for ACIHE full accreditation and to assist the institution in developing the 12-month Self-Study that follows.
